Marble is a beautiful natural stone which has been a favorite element in ancient as well as modern architectural designs. The stone that inspires poetry and has been used to create many architectural wonders across the world is in fact a metamorphic rock, which is formed by the alteration of limestone or dolomite. Natural marble is available in many colors like milky white, red, black, mottled and banded, gray, pink and green. The price varies according to the availability of the stone. The only drawback of marble is that it has the characteristic of being etched and stained by water and chemicals subjected to prolonged use. But the use of modern sealants has significantly reduced this major risk.

Marble mosaic tiles are often used on shower floors. The grout lines provide the necessary footing to prevent slipping. Marble is also a popular fixture in shower walls and in steam showers. However in all these places, traction is a factor that needs to be seriously taken into consideration.
- Framings – Hand-carved marble trim pieces can be used in framing bath mirrors, and a wide variety of marble accents that may round off your ultimate dream bath.
- Tumbled Marble – The current rise in the popularity of “tumbled marble” has seen an increased use in many homes. It is mostly popular for giving a rustic old-world bathroom feel. These varieties are available in many sizes and are good for backsplashes, showers, and flooring.
- Sinks – A sink can be a bowl of polished marble which sits atop a vanity with a tall faucet which empties water into the vessel. It is a simple, yet supremely artistic way to decorate a bathroom.
Marble need not always be white and boring. With the increase in marble technology one can opt for various marble fittings in their homes to increase its beauty and elegancy.
